About

My name is Dino Anastasopoulos and I am 21 years old, from Johannesburg. I'm half Greek (if you couldn't tell by the surname) but South Africa is my home. I am currently completing my Honors Degree in Computer Science at Wits University.

In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer and exercising (mostly running but some strength training too). I keep in touch with my creative side by drawing and making art (my artist alias is "Raptor", as seen on my home-page self portrait - feel free to ask why). I relax my mind by getting lost in the world of fiction. I love to learn by reading books and blogs, and I listen to podcasts ALL the time (Lex Fridman, Joe Rogan and How I Built This are some of my favourites).

I appreciate good music of any genre, but I do have a few preferences. When I'm up coding late at night, drum & bass gives me the energy to keep going. When I'm out at a party it could be techno, house or hip-hop. Jazz, EDM, lo-fi, and psy-trance are just a few of the others.

(Follow me on Spotify, I put a lot of effort into my playlists.)

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do really enjoy it. Rick and Morty, and Midnight Gospel, constantly blow my mind. I really enjoyed West World, Black Mirror and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, just to name a few. I like to watch documentaries, or docu-series, since I learn a lot from them.

More than anything, I truly value human connection and building strong relationships, so I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family. The kind of social activities that I enjoy doing include hiking, braaing (South African version of a barbeque), playing sport, raving/clubbing, and having deep and interesting conversations over a good meal, a fire, a couple beers, or anything really. I love board games and I tend to be pretty good at strategic games - although I do suck at chess and would love to improve.
